Samsung Galaxy Note 9

One of the most anticipated phones of the year

With an official release date of August 9, 2018, the Galaxy Note 9 won’t have much time to prove it is worth to be crowned “The Phone of the Year.” Though, that isn’t stopping Samsung from putting all it’s got into the fight. With a 6.5” 1440p AMOLED display, it will be turning heads with great color definition. It boasts a whopping, 6-8GB of RAM, enough to keep all your apps open and preloaded. (That’s more RAM than most consumer laptops and desktops have. Talk about beefy!) And 64-128GB of internal memory (extendable up to 2TB with an SD card) can hold plenty of apps, songs, and movies. Such a powerful device wouldn’t be useful without a long-lasting battery. Samsung managed to squeeze in a 4000 mAh (milliampere hour) battery into this thin phone. Amazing! It doesn’t stop here. The cameras are just as hot. With a 12+ megapixel dual-camera setup, you will be able to take sharp, crisp, photos with that perfect depth of field necessary to highlight your subject. These specs make Apple’s iPhone X look like dead weight.

Hopefully, Samsung won’t let this amazing hardware go to waste. The phone is suspected to be loaded with a custom version of Android 8.1, but unless Samsung has some killer software features, most users will be better suited by a custom rom and kernel. Unlike Apple’s iOS, Android is the king of customizability and there is plenty of competition among developers to create the best experience possible. And with open source projects, information and knowledge is shared for the greater good.

With flagship specs, this phone isn’t going to come cheap. Android analysts suspect that it will cost around $1000. But for those with a phone to trade in or decent credit for a payment plan, the price is still extremely affordable for a device that most users spend all day checking. If you aren’t a power user, this phone might not be for you.

Recently, Apple revealed that they are offering a brand-new range of colors on iPhone sold the second half of this year. Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 will also have lots of colors to choose from. Whether you are a fan of midnight black or want to spice things up with orchid, there is a color waiting for you to love. That is until you put your expensive device in a protective case. But for those that take the risk and use their phone naked, the color pallet is great news.
